Broomfield SILC is a Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre providing education, care and support for children and young people with a wide range of complex learning difficulties, physical disabilities and additional needs. The organisation operates across multiple sites in Leeds and is committed to delivering safe, accessible and inspiring learning environments that enable every pupil to thrive.

Onyx Interiors Ltd was appointed to design and deliver the transformation of an existing office space within White Rose Park into a fully compliant, specialist educational facility for Broomfield SILC. The instruction was undertaken on behalf of landlord Munroe K, in partnership with Leeds City Council and the school’s leadership team, requiring careful coordination, sensitivity and absolute programme certainty to ensure readiness for the academic year.

Scope of Works

• Conversion of low-spec CAT B office space into DDA-compliant educational facility
• Formation of classrooms, sensory rooms, therapy spaces and staff offices
• Installation of secure access control, safeguarding measures and visitor management points
• Bespoke joinery including storage walls, teaching walls and adjustable worktops
• Full M&E refit – HVAC upgrades, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, power/data to suit classroom layouts
• Acoustic enhancements and safeguarding-compliant internal partitions
• Welfare facilities: accessible WCs, hygiene rooms and assisted changing areas
• Coordination with Leeds City Council’s SEND team, Munroe K and school representatives throughout delivery
